Hello again, everyone!!
It has been another crazy busy month for everyone, hasn’t it? Various year-end shows, competitions, graduation ceremonies, final exams… You name it, it’s happening or has already happened. A few highlights in my life recently have been Dancity Competition with my fellow delegate, Miss Ariel Cao!
It was so nice to finally see for myself the amazing dance group she put together at her high school. In addition, my group from PraiseTEAM took part in the fundraiser, Artists for Animals, where all proceeds went to a no-kill animal shelter in Richmond. I also joined with the fabulous club from my high school, ReachOut, and we raised hundreds of dollars for Free The Children! I give so much credit to the other members of ReachOut for their incredible effort, passion, and organization. We sold freezies (who can refuse a good freezie on the hot days Surrey has been having, am I right?), popcorn and candy, and even COOLer… Menchie’s!! Menchie’s actually has a fundraising program where you can buy bulk amounts of frozen yogurt and toppings, then sell each cup of froyo and have it go straight to the charity of your choice! This fundraiser was a remarkable success. We completely sold out and the student body loved it (especially me, because frozen yogurt holds a very special place in my heart).
I also want to thank Surrey’s local band, Northern Rain, for giving Fleetwood a great performance at another one of our school events! We truly appreciate your help and willingness to assist in our fundraising for FTC 🙂
With the help of ReachOut, the students at Fleetwood Park, Northern Rain, and the audience for our production of Peter Pan, we raised hundreds past the $400 minimum required for me to go to nationals 🙂 Not to mention the fact that every dollar spent is helping build a school in Sierra Leone! I am so proud of my high school, knowing how much money they donated to the cause. Every dollar counts, and it was so appreciated!! YAY, FLEETWOOD!
